Fatwood Kindlin’ is nature’s original firestarter.

Getting its name from the naturally occurring resin that accumulates in the stumps of the Heart Pine, fatwood has been used as a firestarter for centuries. It is this rich resin that helps it to light fast and gives it a long lasting burn. A few sticks of Fatwood Kindlin’ will easily start a roaring fire.

When you buy our Fatwood Kindlin’, you’re buying an all natural product harvested in an ecologically and economically responsible manner. Our fatwood is cut from non-rainforest areas using only non-endangered pine species. We do not cut live trees. Fatwood Kindlin’ is renewable and comes from forests that maintain sustainable yield forestry practices and is a by-product from the stumps of trees that have been harvested for lumber. It is 100% all natural, no chemicals or additives, just as nature intended.

Our Fatwood Kindlin’ is hand-split into 8-inch long sticks for convenient use anywhere. A wet stick of Fatwood Kindlin’ will still light with the touch of a match, starting even the most stubborn fires. From camping, campfires and chimineas to fireplaces, barbecues, pellet, wood or coal stoves, Fatwood Kindlin’ assures you a safe, simple, and cleaner way to start any fire.

Spend less time starting the fire and more time enjoying it with Fatwood Kindlin’ — “Nature’s original firestarter”.

Chimineas & Firepits

Types of Firewood

Pinion wood
  • Is a high heat, slow burning type of pine from the Southwestern U.S.
  • It smells delicious with its vanilla/balsam aromas.
  • It is one of the cleanest burning woods available and leaves very little ash.
  • One only needs to put one or two pieces in a fire to reap its rewards.

Oak Firewood
  • Oak is a dense hardwood that burns a relatively clean burn.
  • Hardwoods in general also burn slowly for a nice long fire.

Birch Firewood
  • Birch wood gives us that nice campfire smell.
  • It burns quickly so it is helpful in starting a fire and catching the hardwoods ablaze.
  • The only downfall is if you are using it in an indoor fireplace, birch creates a lot of creosote which will line the chimney and potentially catch fire.
  • To burn birch wood without other woods is not recommended.
  • We advise customers to purchase the mixed or just oak wood if burning in an indoor space.
