Indoor Bulbs

Come inside Gethsemane to find our selection of Indoor Amaryllis and Paperwhite bulbs.  These bulbs should be planted soon.  Especially if you hope for them to bloom by Christmas.  We have lots of varieties to choose from and we are happy to help get you started!



Indoor Amaryllis

These bulbs are suitable for indoor forcing and extremely easy to grow

Planting Instructions

Put 2 inches of potting soil in a pot at least 6 inches in diameter.  Set the Amaryllis bulb in the pot and spread out the roots. (Roots must remain undamaged.)  Gently pack more potting soil between the roots and around the bulb, covering 2/3 of the bulb and leaving top third of the bulb above the soil line.  Place in a sunny, warm location (70oF - 20oC) but avoid direct sunlight.

Watering Habits

Water Once with luck warm water when you first pot your Amaryllis bulb, then sparingly until you see the tip of the bulb appear.  Then water regularly (do not over water) and you will soon be  rewarded with spectacular blooms!

Blooms: 6 to 10 weeks after planting

Additional Facts and Tips
  • If the bulb has already started growing, plant as soon as possible and the bulb will straighten itself out.
  • When the first blooms appear move to a cooler location for a longer blooming period.
  • Keep from drafty doors and windows.
  • Cut off spent stalks, additional stalks will appear as others fade.
  • Amaryllis are tropical bulbs and prefer temperatures around 70oF (20oC).
  • All plants grow towards the light, turning the pot regularly will ensure straight stems.
  • Plant bulbs in 2 week intervals for a constant parade of color during the winter months.



Jumbo Indoor Paperwhite


Paperwhites are very easy to grow indoors in a 6 inch pot in a sunny spot.

Planting Instructions

1. Fill a pot halfway with soil
2. Place the bulbs on the soil with the points up
3. Gently place soil around bulbs
4. Water well after planting with luke warm water, until soil is saturated
5. Place in a bright warm location and watch them grow!

Bloom time:  6-10 weeks after planting
Habitat & Height:  Green foliage and an upright 16-20" stem support a ball of white florets

Planting Tips


Be sure to plant bulbs with the tips above the soil line.  We recommend 4 bulbs per 6" pot.  Place course sand or decorative gravel over potting soil to keep roots from pushing the bulbs out of the pot as they grow.
